Swara Veenapani –
A Maestro of Carnatic Music

V N V Ramana Murthy, popularly known as Swara Veenapani, was born in Ravela village, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. Guided by his parents, Sri V L N Sastry and Smt. Sita Annapurnamma, he pursued academics, earning a commerce degree from Nagarjuna University and a B.L. degree from Andhra University. Though he briefly practiced as an advocate, his passion for music ultimately took precedence over conventional ambitions.

His musical journey began with Viswa Geeta Maala, where he served as both music director and lyricist. Over time, he composed several devotional and diverse music albums, including Aatagadaraa Siva, Sree Venkatesam, and Nalona Sivudi Galadu. His talent brought him into the film industry, where he worked on projects like Pattukondi Chuddam, Midhunam, and Devasthanam as a music director and lyricist.

Beyond his contributions to film and music, Swara Veenapani embarked on a global mission—Swara Yatra—bringing Indian music to an international audience. His tours included an extensive four-month stay in the USA and a successful UK visit, during which he conducted 48 programs, lecture demonstrations, and workshops to promote Indian classical music.

One of his most ground-breaking achievements was the creation of Swara Kamakshi and Swara Beejakshari, the result of 18 years of dedicated research into the fundamental structure of 72 Melakartha Ragas. These compositions, designed for Effortless memorisation and retention were recognized by Indian music scholars, including the Madras Music Academy, and serve as an essential resource for preserving Carnatic music traditions for future generations. To extend his mission further, he founded the Swaranidhi Trust to make Indian music accessible to audiences worldwide.

From the same stage, he dedicated his achievement to his motherland, India, and the great heritage of Indian music. His goal is to freely share his innovative scientific compositions with 100,000 students, encouraging each learner to pass on the knowledge to ten more people.
